Pony Pampering and some Hi Viz driving.

The girls stayed in last night due to the weather and the fact that they are both little fat monsters!
So having rectified the two party locations that they call stables (I mean seriously I have never seen a section A produce so much poo...) I decided that today would be a good day to give them a good groom and pampering session.
They were just a bit gross and dusty so after a good groom and polish they look much better. Manes and tails will be next on the list for a wash and trim, I want to try and get tails done this week and a bit more groundwork with the various beasties.

However I am not planning to do any serious work with them until we get back from Scotland, that way there wont be a week long gap in their training for them to get confused over.
Back to today, Whilst tacking Thimble up in her new hi viz driving gear (Go and check out Dopo Coats on Facebook if you need any kind of Hi-Viz - brilliant and fast bespoke service!) Stella decided that I was not giving her enough attention. The result being some attention seeking cuteness, followed by her grumpy face. 
"Me mum... Me Mum.... Actually I don't want to talk to you, go back to the small one.. "

I thought it was all quite amusing and I love that Stella actively interacts now instead of just stressing. She has really started to settle down and its lovely to see her a little more chilled. 

Thimble however is just as confident and just as naughty!! I ran up the yard to speak to my mum briefly, leaving said pony harnessed up, all apart from her bridle, and tied where she gets tied every day. 
Apparently today, my two minutes of chatting to mum was seen as utter neglect so in retaliation the little monster trashed the yard. Not entirely sure how her small self actually managed this feat on this scale in the tiny time frame that she had, but that is just what she is like.

The other plus is that the girls are fairly in love now, happily getting along and are good friends.

So being the insanely graceful human being that I am I managed to fall down my steps the other day, spectacularly.  So with my arm not broke (whoop), but all strapped up with ligament damage. Safe to say I was lucky. Its sore and irritating but it's done now so I'm simply on a mission to try and get it sorted asap, lots of using it gently and building it all back up.  Also in the land of me being brave this week, as part of my 'sort yourself out' campaign, I managed to get myself to a dentist this week.  This is something that literally terrifies me, and I haven't been for years, consequently, there is a lot to do, but like my horses, it's going to be done in small manageable steps.  If I expect my horses to face fears and learn then it's only fair that I expect the same from myself. "He's impossible, stubborn and nothing works" Once upon a time, I was told this about a horse that refused to load, and for me, this was where a lot of my inspiration came from.  The horse in question did appear stubborn, no amount of tugging, pushing, pulling, feed or lunge lines would get him to load if he didn't want to. Yet watching him in the field showed that he was incredibly intelligent. Taking off his rugs with all straps done up, opening gates, opening stable doors.  It was clear to see he was a horse that liked thinking but didn't like pressure. Therefore I decided to give something else a go.  I turned the task of loading him into a puzzle, something that he had to work out, for his own gain.  A game if you like.  He didn't like going onto the lorry, but he did like coming off. He also liked to think that he knew what was coming next.  This was where he gained the upper hand. For me this was what I was seeing from him:

Summer, Stallions and A lack of sleep!

'I love horses... I really do love horses....' That is the phrase that is running through my head whilst I am listening to thundering hoofbeats, squealing and the rather impressive bellow of the stallion as he harasses his new mare friend in the paddock behind my bedroom. The issue is, now that summers here he is quite happy to stand around looking longingly at her all day. Whilst it is too hot to chase her around and convince her that she loves him. So instead he decides to do all of his pursuing at night. Late. Like 3 AM late.  I guess you could call it early.  However, I don't really appreciate it! So thanks to Sir Rags the stallion I am in a slightly overtired, hot and bothered grumpy mood.
